Semiconductor company Renesas Electronics Corporation will acquire Intersil Corporation, which supplies power management and precision analogue solutions. They have agreed on a share price of $22.50, meaning equity of $3.2 billion. Pending shareholder and regulatory approval, the deal is expected to close in the first half of 2017.
The expertise of the combined company will allow it to provide, among other things, a complete embedded system solution. Renesas says that the expansion of product lines coupled with cost savings due to greater scale should generate a further $170 million.
