Red 6 Secures $70 Million Funding for Advanced Tactical Augmented Reality System (ATARS)

Red 6, an augmented reality (AR) technology firm specializing in synthetic air combat training and entertainment applications, has successfully completed a Series B financing round, raising $70 million in capital. This new investment will enable the company to further develop its proprietary advanced tactical augmented reality system (ATARS), a multi-node, all-domain AR system designed to offer a comprehensive outdoor synthetic training environment for multiple users.

ATARS provides pilots with an immersive experience, replicating the cognitive loads associated with actual flight while offering the benefits of simulated training in dynamic outdoor settings. The technology addresses a critical need in the defense sector by providing real-life, near-peer threat training, enhancing cognitive skills and learning. Previously, no comparable solution existed to address the U.S. and allied military’s pilot shortage and the resource overextension during training exercises.

The Series B financing was led by RedBird Capital Partners, an experienced private investment firm with a focus on media & entertainment, sports, and experiential consumer ecosystems. The funding round also attracted participation from various existing and new investors, including Alpha Edison, Boeing’s AEI Horizon X Fund, Lockheed Ventures, Disney Accelerator program’s Accelerator Investments LLC, Washington Harbour Partners, M-Cor Holdings, the UK’s National Security Strategic Investment Fund, Moonshots Capital, Irongate, State of Florida Opportunity Fund, Alumni Ventures, Alliance Holdings, Alcazar Capital, and Robert Downey Jr.’s Downey Labs.
