RCA is a brand name used in North America, while the same models sold in Europe carry the Thomson brand name, but both brands for TVs are owned by TCL. Canada-based Curtis International adds TVs to the roster of products it offers under license for the RCA brand in the US, which also includes smartphones and appliances. Curtis also licenses the Proscan trademark from Technicolor, allowing it to offer a full line of Proscan consumer electronics products in the US and Canada, including TVs, tablets and more.
At the booth at CES, RCA personnel told us they will offer 4K flat TVs in 42”, 50” ($549) and 55” with a curved 55” LCD model (RLED5537-UHD) selling for around $899. Sets will include upscaling and be HDR10 compatible. The curved form factor is “hot” said the company.
These value-focused sets should arrive by March. – CC
