Dave Haynes at Sixteen-Nine.net estimates that there are 55 companies that are selling some kind of display to be used outside or around meeting rooms. He picked out one from ISE last month that is from ProDVX, of Den Bosch in the Netherlands, the APPC-10DSQPL. The device uses a 500 cd/m² IPS panel with 1280 x 800 resolution and 10.1″ diagonal with five point PCap touch. The display supports Android with an RK3188 1.6GHz quad core chip, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of flash memory. Ethernet and Wi-fi is integrated as well as USB, mini-USB and HDMI. The device can run using PoE with loads from 8W (typical) to 19.5W (max). Features include an LED colour bar that can be used to signal from a distance, whether a room is occupied or not.
The system has a 24/7 rating for professional environments.
A number of options are available include barcode scanners and RFID readers.

As we finalised the article, we spotted that the brightness was listed at 500 cd/m² on the firm’s website, but 350 on the pdf. The firm told us that 500 cd/m² is correct, so if you have the older pdf, you can now download a corrected one. (BR)
