NHK will conduct live 8k test transmissions at the Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan. Between 5th and 11th February, NHK will use 8k cameras and equipment to capture the snow and ice sculptures at the event. The transmissions will be shown on a 135″ and 85″ display.
ShineOn has announced that panel maker BOE has developed several monitor panels featuring the company’s wide colour gamut LED backlight solution. BOE plans to market the technology as one of its key features this year.
52 countries have connection speeds capable of supporting UltraHD services (above 15Mbps), according to Akamai’s Q3 State of the Internet report. While this is down 2.8% QoQ, it is up 32% YoY. The Eutelsat TV Observatory has said that satellite DTH was the primary TV reception mode in Europe at the end of 2014. Christie has signed a new partnership agreement with Sahara Benelux which will distribute Christie’s range of displays in the Netherlands and Belgium. Sahara Benelux will offer Christie’s full range of products, including flat screens, Brio, MicroTiles, Velvet indoor LEDs and projectors.
