Qualcomm Signs Agreement With Allwinner
Qualcomm has entered into an agreement with China’s Allwinner Technology, to extend the use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors in the Chinese connected tablet segment. Allwinner will offer system solution services to OEMs and ODMs creating 4G tablets powered by Snapdragon 410 and 210 processors.
NICT Demonstrates 200″ AS3D Display
Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) has undertaken a research project to develop ‘novel’ glasses-free 3D display systems. One of these systems was a 200″ display using super-multi view 3D video technologies and an electronic holography system utilising laser light. Google and Qualcomm do the Tango
The next version of Google’s 3D-sensing smartphone, Project Tango (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 9), will be driven by a Qualcomm processor. It will be the Snapdragon 810.
Nanosys Receives Follow-On Investment
Nanosys has received a follow-on investment from Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, the venture capital arm of Samsung Group. The additional funds are a follow-on to a 2010 investment and will be used to expand production capacity.

Workstations Suffer From Strong Q4
The Q1 global workstation market was seasonally down, but Jon Peddie Research (JPR) reports that the decline was ‘substantially deeper’ than normal.
