Following rumours of Indian investment (Foxconn Looks at India for Expansion), Foxconn will send a delegation of officers to the country to scout for locations in the country next month. The news comes from Subhash Desai, industries minister of Maharashtra, speaking to Reuters.
China’s Irico Electronics is to build new 8.5G glass substrate back-end production facilities, at an estimated cost of $50.7 million. The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 950,000 substrates, supplying companies such as CEC Panda and BOE. Tianma Micro-Electronics has chosen to use Corning’s Lotus NXT Glass for two new LTPS display panels. The glass has been used in new 5.46″ and 4.97″ products, with 1920 x 1080 resolution. The panels will be commercialised in Q3’15.
Cisco has said that it took part in the experimental UltraHD broadcast of the UEFA Champions’ League match on 6th June. Canal+ used Cisco’s Videoscale Anyres Live UltraHD encoders, to broadcast the content over satellite and OTT.
Foxconn Electronics saw sales fall 14.4% sequentially to NT$301.6 billion ($9.7 billion) in May, though this was 12.6% higher than a year earlier.
