ET News of Korea has said that Samsung Electronics doubled its LCD panel purchases between Q2 and Q3’15. The company is preparing for a busy Christmas period in North America, as well as high demand in early 2016 during China’s Lunar New Year. Most purchases were made by Samsung’s Visual Display and Consumer Electronics businesses.
ANFR, the French communications regulator, has allocated an €82 million budget, to help viewers migrate from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 AVC on the DTT platform. The switch must occur before the 5th April. It is estimated that 6.3 million TV sets will need to be upgraded.

DISH Network has said that it added approximately 751,000 gross new pay-TV subscribers in Q3, compared to approx 691,000 gross in the same period last year. However, net pay-TV subscribers declined 23,000, compared to a loss of 12,000 in Q3’14. The company closed Q3 with 13.9 million pay-TV subscribers, against 14 million last year.
