OTI Exploiting Quantum Computing for OLED Materials

OLED Molecules

What They Say

Hat-tip to Chris Chinnock for a pointer to an interesting article from Michael Helander of OTI Lumionics that gave some background on how is firm is working with the University of British Columbia to develop quantum computing simulations to develop and select OLED materials. The work has been detailed in a paper. Helander said:

“What this work shows is that when you use the quantum algorithms, it gives you a more accurate, better prediction, taking the structure of the molecule and predicting its emission properties, than the classical tools. And so that’s an actual industrial relevant problem like what real chemical companies face today”.

We’ve previously mentioned this work in passing, but this is the first time we have seen some detail.

What We Think

All the OLED material companies have some kind of ‘secret sauce’ in this area and we reported on Kyulux’s licensing of technology from Harvard in 2016. (Kyulux Licenses Deep Learning System for TADF Screening) (BR)
