Oppo announces the Air Glass monocle AR device

What They Say

Oppo has a new “limited release” product, called the Air Glass, which is a monocle AR device based on a ‘self-developed’ microLED-base projector called the Spark. The image is presented to the eye using a diffractive optical waveguide. The weight is approx 30g and it uses a CNC frame. The projection unit is said to take just 0.5cc and has a microLED with up to 3 million cd/m² of output – delivering up to 1400 cd/m² to the eye.

The glasses are available in two different types of frames – a silver half-frame, and a black full-frame that can better accommodate users who require corrective eyewear.

The device will be launched in China in Q1 2022.

What We Think

Given what we know at the moment, I would guess this is a JBD display, although JBD said that its monochrome projector is 0.35cc. Arthur is planning a deeper dive into this product for a Display Daily. (BR)
