Oppo Ahead of Apple in India

The Economc Times reports that Oppo of China has claimed on the basis of data from GfK, that the value of its business in India was more than that of Apple in August at 8% compared to 6.3%. Samsung was quoted as having 45.9% of the market. Analysts pointed out that Apple was getting towards the end of a model period with some buyers waiting for the next iPhone which starts to ship in India this month.

Analyst Comment

Separately, asian sources said that Oppo wants to increase from 100 million handset shipments in 2016 to 130 or 140 million in 2017. The company is expected to find strong competition from Huawei. (BR)
