Idemitsu Kosan plans to set up a wholly owned subsidary, Idemitsu OLED Materials Europe AG in Basel, Switzerland, which will develop organic EL materials. It will cost CHF2 million ($2 million) and the company says that this will prepare it for the future growth in demand for OLED materials by facilitating the development of new materials with advanced technology. The facility will be Idemitsu’s second research facility for OLEDs.
Analyst Comment
IHS Markit forecasts that Idemitsu will be one of the main suppliers of OLED materials this year and that it is supplying the blue material for Samsung’s next phone and LG’s OLEDs. (BR)
