Valve has announced that Oculus Rift has broken a new record for its highest ever market share on Steam.
It’s no coincidence that this announcement comes towards the end of the Summer of Rift sale, where consumers were able to pick up a Rift + Touch bundle for the bargain price of $399.
The latest figures show an 8.1% growth in Rift users on Steam, bring Oculus up to a 43.8% market share.
This boost in performance has closed the gap between Oculus and its rival HTC Vive, though the Vive still holds the majority market-share with 52.3%.
The Summer of Rift sale ends, September 4th. Going forward, the Rift + Touch bundle will retail at $499.
Analyst Comment
Although the sale was due to end, last time we looked, the Oculus was still at $399 on Amazon. However, someone that ought to know has suggested that it will be pushed down to $299 before long! (BR)
