We reported on work done by the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan on the potentially negative effects of blue light on humans (Back to Candlelight – the Shift Away from Blue Spectrum Light) and now the OLED Info blog has published an update on the work.
The work focused on a comparison of an iPhone 7 (LCD) and the iPhone XS Max (OLED). The result was that the OLED emitted less blue light as the colour temperature was lower. The displays were compared at the same luminance. The group calculated that the suppression of melatonin effect and any potential damage from inflammation was around 16% less on the OLED.
