Digital TV Research forecast that North American OTT TV revenues will continue to grow and will reach $94 billion in 2026, nearly double the $49 billion seen in 2020. $88 billion would be in the US and $5.4 billion in Canada.
Simon Murray, Principal Analyst at Digital TV Research, said:
“SVOD and AVOD revenues will each increase by $22 billion between 2020 and 2026. AVOD revenues will triple to $33 billion. SVOD will remain the main revenue source, supplying $54 billion by 2026.”
What We Think
AVOD, funded by advertising, is the biggest growth area in percentage and absolute terms over the forecast period. Separately is has been said that operators have provided a better experience with AVOD recently and that is making the option more popular than in the past. (BR)
