New Study Projects VR Revenue to Reach $22.4 Billion by 2025

ARTillery Intelligence released its forecast for VR and expects that VR revenue to grow from $4.49 billion in 2020 to $22.4 billion in 2025, a 37.9% CAGR. Consumer spending is $5.67 billion this year compared to Enterprise spending of $3.44 billion. 2021 has seen good growth as it will be the first full year of the Quest 2 and last year was impacted by supply chain issues.

The company said that it expects Meta to reach its target of 10-million in-market VR headsets in 2022.

What We Think

Initially, I thought this was a duplicate, but then realised that I had reported the firm’s AR forecast. As with the AR forecast, it is quite optimistic. (Will Headworn AR Revenues Exceed $17 Billion by 2025? With $17.7 billion of AR in the previous forecast, the combined value of the market is forecast to be around $40 billlion.

Separately, I saw an interesting article on The Information’s Reality Check newsletter that points out that Meta is promoting the Quest, now, as the Meta Quest 2 rather than the Oculus Quest 2. That’s likely to confuse some consumers, but I’m sure that Meta has the resources and tools to make that little more than a ‘blip’ (BR)
