New Kindle is Waterproof

Although Amazon didn’t mention the Kindle when it recently updated its Echo line, the company is still developing the eBook range and has updated the top of the range Kindle Oasis. The new version has been updated to add waterproofing rated at IP8 (two metres of water for 60 minutes) and with a 300ppi 7″ display that now has 12 LEDs in its front light, up from 10 and with a sensor so that it adapts to the ambient light. The display is protected by a glass that is not Gorilla Glass, but an alternative that is said to be the strongest used in a Kindle.

The kindle has Bluetooth audio for support of Audible books.

There will be three versions – an 8GB Wi-Fi version, another with 32GB and Wi-Fi and the top of the range with 32GB and Wi-Fi. The pricing is from $249 to $349 and shipping starts at the end of October.
