MMD Pays for Tree Planting for Philips Monitors

What They Say

MMD, the TPV subsidiary that licences the Philips brand for monitors in Europe, said that it is continuing to work with ForestNation to plant trees in Tanzania to offset the environmental impact of its products. So far, Philips monitors has pledged to keep planting at least 50.000 trees – and add more to the growing forest with every green monitor sold.

Anyone can donate to the campaign (the last three donations on the page were from MMD management!( and MMD said that it will plant a tree for every 10 visitors to this campaign page.

What We Think

This seems to be a relatively harmless action to help maintain relatively green credentials for the Philips brand. Of course, a cynic would say that if this was really about MMD’s green view and not the Philips branding, the campaign would also apply to the AOC brand that it sells! (BR)
