Miracast has added new features that will boost performance for users streaming HD and UltraHD content across their networks via Wi-Fi. The new version of Miracast supports WPA2 security.

The Wi-fi Alliance released almost no information on the technical details of this change, although there was a new version of the standard when it was released in April 2017. The organisation has not announced any new labelling to certify particular devices for UltraHD, so what this announcement means is not clear.
