What They Say
Microsoft has announced its Mesh XR platform during its Ignite developer conference, based on its Azure platform.
The app is designed as a shared platform for Microsoft’s AR HoloLens platform, Windows Mixed Reality, and other AR/VR devices, where users can interact together in a cross meeting space. While geared toward immersive applications, it also works with smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
There are a number of tools including:
- a full suite of AI-powered tools for avatars
- session management
- spatial rendering
- synchronization across multiple users
- holoportation, eventually (viewing avatars in a virtual environment)
Microsoft plans to integrate Mesh into Teams and Dynamics 365.
What We Think
Although the image that Microsoft showed, it wouldn’t look quite like that with the limited field of view of, for example, the Hololens. However, I can see the advantages of seeing shared views of products etc. (BR)
