Microsoft HoloLens Triples its Availability

Microsoft has launched its HoloLens headset to 29 new European markets, almost tripling the number of countries where the device is available, up to 39.

The initial development version of HoloLens launched in the US in March 2016. The device was released in Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom about six months later, and in Japan shortly after.

Now, consumers in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey can purchase the HoloLens—providing they have upwards of $3,000 to pay for it. Local prices and individual release dates haven’t been confirmed.

A second-generation version of the HoloLens with on-board artificial intelligence processing is currently in development.
