Microsoft Gives Up Windows Mobile

Microsoft has effectively abandoned the Windows Mobile operating system, with Joe Belfiore, a Microsoft executive responsible for Windows 10, has joined Bill Gates in adopting a phone with an Android operating system, citing the range of available applications. He also said that the OS was “no longer a focus” for the company.

Belfiore was speaking at the launch of new versions of Microsoft’s Edge browser for Android and iOS that adds a ‘continue on PC’ feature. The company has released a new version of Windows 10 Mobile which has no new features, but includes some bug fixes and that will be the pattern for future releases.

I noted that the Windows 10 Creators’ Edition has now downloaded to my my system, but haven’t noticed anything different, yet. (BR)
