What They Say
Micledi Microdisplays and QustomDot have announced a collaboration to make microdisplay exploiting the QustomDot QDs for colour conversion and based on Micledi’s 300mm wafer processing. (Micledi Collaborating with GlobalFoundries.) The latest architecture is said to have been optimized for high-aperture (>60% aperture at a 3µm pixel pitch) which is a key requisite to achieve a high brightness with quantum dots” – says Dr. Soeren Steudel, Micledi CTO.
The company also said that it has developed microdisplays for AR glasses with in integrated micro-lenses for pixel level beam shaping, manufactured in the company’s proprietary 300mm manufacturing flow. Samples and test kits of blue and green microLED arrays, plus blue arrays with micro-lenses have been delivered to customers this summer with red microLEDs coming in Q422. Available for both microLED device evaluation and for display integration with waveguides, customers will see FHD display blocks and a variety of other microLED structures with mesa sizes down to 0.5 microns, and with micro-lens reference designs by Micledi.
