Mersive, the Colorado, USA-based company, announced its new Solistic Pod solution at Infocomm. The box is Android-based and provides display support up to UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution via an HDMI 1.4 connector. 4k video streaming is limited to 30 fps though. With dual band Wi-Fi, the streaming of 4k/UHD content will require compression for all content shared via Wi-Fi.
The device comes in two versions; the Pdo SGE, which supports up to 4 simultaneous users, sells for $799 and the Pod Unlimited, supporting up to 256 simultaneous users, selling for $999. Both support input from Windows, OSX, iOS, and Android devices.
The solution is based on Mersive’s Solstice software and is aimed mainly at classrooms and conference rooms to accommodate collaboration. – NH
