MediaTek will see strong sales during the second quarter of 2018, according to Digitimes. Citing unnamed industry sources, the publication reported that the company expects its revenues, gross margins and net earnings to rebound as Chinese smartphone vendors Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi adopt its newest Hello P60 chipset for their 2018 handsets.
Shipments of the new SoC—the first MediaTek offering to feature full AI capabilities—to smartphone manufacturers is scheduled to begin in the second quarter. The company is also reported to be working on AI-capable chipsets that are optimised for TVs, tablets and automotive electronics.
