Mitsubishi Chemical and Pioneer Corporation say that they have developed a dimmable, colour-tunable OLED lighting panel using a wet-coat process.
According to the companies, the new panel can be produced for ‘less than one-third’ of the cost of using conventional production methods. Mass production is scheduled to begin in early 2016.
Three sizes will be available: 92 x 92mm (OLED-P0909), 69 x 66mm (OLED-P0707) and 52 x 50mm (OLED-P0505). They will be 1.1mm thick and output as much as 2,000 cd/m² of brightness, with a colour temperature between 3,000K and 5,000K.
