We missed this in mid-August, but it appears that Google’s Project Ara modular smartphone has been delayed. The company was planning to hold the components together using electropermanent magnets, but they are said to not be working as expected. A new solution is being sought, but this has delayed the planned release from this year to some time in 2016.
