What They Say
The Information’s Reality Check said that Lumus, the maker of high end waveguides for AR displays, is planning two lower resolution versions. The firm’s Maximus waveguide supports up to 2048 x 2048, but the new ones will be in 1920 x 1080 (in Q3) and 2560 x 1440 (in Q4). David Goldman, Lumus’ VP of marketing told the blog that
“We’re talking to all the big [manufacturers] that are building glasses right now. They’ve got to make their optics decision soon if they want to have glasses for consumers in two or three years.”
Goldman told Reality Check that the company hopes to announce a partnership “in the coming months” that would see the Maximus used in a proper pair of reference design AR glasses.
What We Think
As I was digging around on this story, I spotted an article from a couple of weeks ago that said that Lumus is working with Luxexcel on 3D printed lenses that allow customised prescription lenses to be integrated with the Lumus Maximus waveguide. (BR)
