Encoding/transcoding firm Media Excel and stream technology provider Unified Streaming are now offering a joint content delivery solution, based on HEVC, using existing infrastructure and ‘proven’ workflows. Live HEVC has been added to Media Excel’s HERO fragmented MP4 output; this means that Unified Origin (which streams one source to multiple screens) now manages Live HEVC ingest, similarly to AVC in terms of archiving, DVR and DRM, for multiple output formats at the same time. HLS as well as MPEG-DASH can be streamed live using HEVC and AVC. The companies say that this enables a hybrid workflow for new and legacy receivers.
