The popular webOS smart TV platform from LG Electronics continues to raise the bar with new additions to its already robust content offerings. Leading the expansion is the addition of LG Channel Plus, exclusively powered by XUMO, and DAZN to 2017 LG webOS UHD Smart TV models.
The 2017 LG OLED and LG SUPER UHD TVs feature webOS 3.5, the latest version of LG’s award-winning smart TV platform, which makes switching between content options – including broadcast TV, streaming services and external devices – simple and fast. With the LG Magic Remote and refined launcher bar, viewers have access to a limitless world of premium content – including 4K Ultra HD and high dynamic range (HDR) streaming content – from the most popular entertainment providers including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Cineplex Digital as well as Channel Plus and DAZN.
“According to ownership data from the Consumer Technology Association, internet-enabled TVs are now present in 47 per cent of Canadian households.1 The addition of DAZN and launch of Channel Plus in Canada provide LG OLED and LG SUPER UHD TV owners access to a robust slate of content,” said Matt Durgin, LG Electronics North American Head of Content Innovation. “With over 50 channels from top-tier content providers at their fingertips via our webOS smart TV platform, consumers can enjoy the content they love when they want to see it and on some of the top-rated TVs on the market.”
Channel Plus
Powered by XUMO, Channel Plus is a unique, intuitive streaming service integrated into 2017 LG UHD smart TVs running webOS 3.5 in Canada. Channel Plus delivers both live and on-demand streaming content through an innovative interface that presents over-the-air broadcast channels alongside over-the-top (OTT) streaming channels.
“The innovation behind seamlessly merging 54 different linearly programmed OTT streams with the traditional channel lineup provides a remarkable value-add for LG customers,” said Stefan Van Engen, XUMO’s senior vice president of content programming and acquisitions. “The increased distribution and easy discovery of new content and channels on webOS makes Channel Plus a solution that directly aligns with the strategic distribution plans of our digital-first partners.”
Channel Plus programming includes Mic (IP-143), Funny Or Die (IP-201), America’s Funniest Home Videos (IP-217), Baeble Music (IP-286), PBS Digital Studios (IP-291), PeopleTV (IP-321), TMZ (IP-323), The New Yorker (IP-335), bon appétit (IP-405), NatureVisionTV (IP-450) and more. Content is subject to change and internet connection is required.
DAZN
DAZN – now available on LG webOS enabled smart TVs – provides live and on-demand sports content from the National Football League (NFL), international professional Soccer leagues and the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) and ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) 250 tennis tournaments.
DAZN is a live and on-demand sports streaming service that allows fans to watch their sport, their way. Fans can watch their favourite teams, leagues and players anytime, anywhere, for an affordable monthly price or annual subscription (annual subscriptions available in Canada only). DAZN has the ability to play, pause and rewind anytime. Content is subject to change. Visit http://media.dazn.com/en/ for more information.
