LG said that its WebOS platform, version 3.5 will be certified to UL-2900-1 as a major step in ensuring the security of its platform, both in terms of malware and also in terms of securing customer data. There is a ‘Security Manager’ component in the latest version that is certified. The new version will be applied only to 2017 model year sets. LG is the first TV maker to get certification for its sets.
LG plans to extend this level of certification to its other smart home and IoT products.
