UK retailer John Lewis entered into a partnership with LG to produce an own-brand TV last year: the JL9000 (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 18). The successor model, the JL9100, has now been announced.
Like the original, the JL9100 will run LG’s WebOS and will have 49″ and 55″ models available. The 60″ appears to have been cut in favour of a 40″ version. Additionally, UltraHD resolution has been added, with HDMI ports that can support the format at 60fps, as well as an HEVC decoder.
An optional 2.1-channel wireless soundbar will be launched around the same time as the TV, with a similar appearance. This replaces the integrated soundbar in the JL9000. 3D will not be supported.
Pricing has been revealed for the 40″ (£665 ($1,000)) and 49″ (£875 ($1,300)) sets, but not for the largest model. Like the JL9000, the JL9100 is set to be launched in May.
