LG has followed last week’s premium TV announcement (LG Expands High-End With ‘Dual Premium’ Strategy) with details about the UK range. 60% of these will be UltraHD and all bar one will use LG’s WebOS.
The majority of TVs are simply renamed models. For instance, the UF7700 will be known in the UK (and probably the rest of Europe) as the UF770V. The UK version will have additional sizes, however, with 40″, 43″, 49″, 55″, 65″, 70″ and 79″ models announced. Several of these are likely to be slightly beneath their official size; the US TV, for example, is 59.5″ instead of 60″.
We believe that the UF860V is equivalent to the UF8500, although sizes are again different: 55″ and 65″, rather than 59.5″ and 64.5″.
The flagship UF9500 ‘Colour Prime’ TV will be known as the UF950V. It will be available at the end of March, in 55″ and 65″ sizes. There was no mention of the new EG9600 OLED model, although LG did say that the EC9700 (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 31) will be launched, as the EC970V (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 27), in April. It will cost £5,415 ($8,300) ex VAT.
Finally, there will be an entry-level TV without WebOS called the UF675V, which doesn’t appear to correspond to any of the new US models. It is not a smart TV, but will have UltraHD. A 49″ model has been announced, which is likely to start at £750 ($1,150) ex VAT.
