LG launches its first LED TVs, starting at $70,000

What They Say

LG launched its first LED TVs under the Direct View LED (DVLED) name and in an ‘Extreme Home Cinema’ range. Sizes are from 81″ to 325″ in 16:9 format and there are also 32:9 formats available for replicating a sports bar environment. There are 30 pre-defined configurations, but the firm is also offering custom configurations. Pricing is from $70,000 upwards (to $1.7 million!) and ‘up to’ 1200 cd/m² (4K 163″).

The 108-inch 2K model, for example, consumes up to 1800W while the 325-inch 8K model consumes up to 16500W and the displays weigh up to a tonne!

What We Think

The Middle East and Russia have been good markets for this kind of technology in the past, but there is a lot of competition these days. (BR)
