LG Business Solutions has done a deal to offer PCap touch overlays for its monitors in 22”, 32″, 43″, 55″, 65″, 75” and 86” sizes based on technology from Displax of Portugal. The overlays support 10 point touch and uses Displax Skin Mesh metal mesh technology, which is said to be very transparent and the firm claims that the grid is not visible.
What We Think
I was surprised to see LG using the Displax solution. Checking the latest range, LG has In-glass, Infrared and in-cell options as well as metal mesh PCap solutions already. However, PCap overlays are a flexible way for the channel to develop customised solutions. I plan to follow up with LG to understand this deal better. After all, LGD was the first to develop large screen in-cell touch, I think. In the past, I have found Displax mesh to be visible, but, of course, there’s no chance to see these things at the moment!
