Leyard Europe announced a new Evercare ‘Lifetime’ warranty for some of its LED displays. It provides service while the original buyer owns the product (although in its T’s & C’s, the time is limited to five years after discontinuation of the product by Leyard). The warranty cannot be transferred to other subsequent owners, including any that own the display under a rental or lease agreement. The warranty will also be offered by Leyard’s Planar business in North America.
Leyard said that buyers of the TVF Series and TVF Complete LED video walls will get the following:
- Total Product Coverage: Coverage of the entire product from controller to sub-pixel, including every component in between
- Local Support and Maintenance: Repair or replacement of any component
- Uninterrupted Assistance: Access to support via phone and email
- Accelerated Replacement: Advance replacement of certain critical components
- Opportunity for Enhancement: This may be augmented by optional Leyard Europe scheduled or on-demand, on-site service programs
What We Think
As a buyer, this kind of warranty would help me be comfortable with a purchase and will help to differentiate Leyard from the hundreds of low cost suppliers from Shenzen. In the past, I have done a lot of research work on warranty topics, and while management often thinks they can be helpful in winning business, we were never able to demonstrate a boost in market share or sales as a result of warranty extensions. It’s more of a defensive move, than an offensive one, in our view as a result. (BR)
