Arris announced two new commercial satellite receivers that support the DVB-S2X satellite technology and the HEVC codec with resolutions up to UltraHD. The DSR-7412 Integrated Receiver/Transcoder and DSR-4470 Integrated Receiver/Decoder are both intended for applications which may need HEVC or can be used to transcode to MPEG 2/4 HD and SD formats for supporting legacy STBs (up to 12 channels on the DSR-7412).

We reported on the new Optoma ZU650+ a week or so ago and now he have had clarification of the improved colour performance (Optoma ZU650+ Has Improved Colour). The company has since clarified that the new projector has a better red bringing it closer to Rec. 709 coordinates and allowing the projector to achieve 98% of Rec. 709. The company also said that it has started to ship four 400UST models that it announced at ISE (DuraCore from Optoma Offers 5 Year/30K Hour Warranty).

Matrox has upgraded the C680 graphics card, which has six outputs, to include 4GB of onboard memory.

Shuttle in Germany has released two small Android-based (5.1.1 – Lollipop) media players that can support UltraHD output via HDMI 2.0. The NS02 and NS02E units are the same, with one, the NS02E, operating using PoE rather than needing a power supply. The boxes are based on Rockchip RK3368 Octa Core Cortex-A53 64 Bit processors and PowerVR SGX6110 GPU with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. An add-on bay is available for external HDDs or SDDs. Pricing is €131 for the NS02 and €143 for the NS02E.
