LDM V24 #20 Product Round-up

HP has announced an HP Thin Client Conversion Suite that is intended to turn older PCs into thin client terminals. HP Thin Client Conversion Suite includes:

  • HP Write Manager has an all-new design intended to make configuration changes and custom profile setups simple with minimal end-user interruptions that can increase performance and reliability both for repurposed PCs and all HP Thin Clients.
  • HP Device Manager allows users to configure, manage, maintain and update their install base and security certificate assignments all from one interface.
  • HP Easy Shell is designed to be quick, simple and customizable and provide a clean streamlined experience for HP Thin Client Windows Embedded environments.
  • HP USB Port Manager features the ability to block all USB devices, allow only certain USB devices, and set access to USB mass storage devices as read-only.
  • HP Velocity is claimed to optimize the user experience and is said to be especially suited for challenging network environments and improving the user experience for virtualized applications.

The Raspberry Pi continues to reach a lot of places. N Computing has announced the RX-HDX, a thin client box that is based on the Raspberry Pi 3. The box supports monitors up to 1920 x 1200 and second monitors and is optimised for use in a Citrix environment. The box will sell for $119 from late July. Features include:

  • Citrix HDX Ready integration for ‘compelling’ performance; full-motion HD video playback and content display (1920×1200) via HDMI and second monitor support (optional).
  • Comprehensive Pi Management Console (PMC) to provide enterprises with integrated remote device management
  • Sleep mode button for additional power saving
  • Less than 5W power consumption
  • 8GB internal Micro SD card and 1GB RAM
  • Built-in Kensington security slot and sealed micro SD card for added protection
  • 4x USB 2.0 high-speed ports with full USB redirection
  • Optional VESA mount
  • Built-in WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 4.1
