Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that he now believes that the widely rumoured Apple headset will not start volume shipping until the second half of 2023 and that as a result, the sales for the headset in 2023 are likely to be ‘less than 500K units’, below a ‘market concensus’ of 800K – 1.2 million. The delay is because of ‘software-related’ issues.
What We Think
DSCC put out a press release with its latest forecast after most of a ‘disappointing’ 2022 for AR & VR headsets. The new forecast sees good growth next year and the firm agrees with Kuo on the likely timing. Apple fans also got excited about the new name of xrOS for its OS for the headset. (BR)
