At IFA, we caught up with Rakuten Kobo, a Toronto company which sells e-books, e-readers and tablet computers. It is a subsidiary of the Japanese e-commerce conglomerate Rakuten. The name Kobo is an anagram of book.
The company was showing two new eBook readers using eink displays that offer a nice 350 ppi. They include front lights and a blue light filter for night time reading that won’t keep you awake after you stop. They are also waterproof.
The new 6” model will be available later in September for €199 while the 7.8” model will be available in a week for 229 Euro. The current product is a 6.8” reader for €179. – CC
