JPW: VR Arcades Will Support Industry Growth

Taiwan-based virtual reality supplier JPW is planning to open 15 VR arcade stores by the end of the year, according to Digitimes.

JPW’s CEO and founder, Jack Tong, believes the presence of virtual reality technology in a public arcade setting will help to increase the uptake of VR in the home and accelerate industry growth.

The first of these VR arcades has recently opened in Taipei, with several more planned to open throughout Taiwan by the end of 2017. The arcades will be continually updated with the latest virtual reality hardware and software, while JPW plans to incorporate cross-border VR gaming tournaments into its long-term business model.
