Japan Floods Have Limited Impact on Supply Chain

Heavy rain and typhoons have caused dramatic flooding in Japan, Taiwan and East China. Okayama was the worst hit in Japan and the flooding has led to almost 200 deaths at the time of writing. Many homes have had power cuts or cuts in water delivery and the floods were expected to cause havoc for a lot of businesses. Panasonic has a factory making commercial video cameras in Okayama and Nikkei reports that the factory is likely to be closed for a week. Daihatsu Motor and Mazda Motor halted production for some time, and a factory owned by Teijin stopped making polycarbonate resin.

Typhoon Maria in Taiwan also caused 60,000 homes in Taiwan to lose power.
