The ITU has moved to allocate the 700MHz band (specifically 694-790MHz) to mobile signals at the 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference. The decision applies to ITU Region 1 (EMEA and central Asia); as similar agreements have already been finalised for Regions 2 and 3 (Americas and APAC), it is now possible that the use of the 700MHz band will be harmonised worldwide.
At the same time, the ITU decided to preserve the UHF band (470-694MHz) for terrestrial broadcasting services until at least 2023. The band will not be used as a co-primary one. Again, this decision applies to Region 1 and mirrors decisions already agreed upon in Regions 2 and 3.
