Generally over Western Europe there has been a rise in pay-TV subscriptions and this is forecast to continue. But IPTV in particular has seen a doubling of its subscriber base and now outnumbers satellite TV households according to Mediavision.
The Nordic countries reflect this, with an overall increase of 0.4% YoY to 11 million pay-TV subscribers, with IPTV seeing an additional 210,00 subscribers bringing the total to 2.4 million. By contrast there was a 2% (170,000 subscribers) loss for cable, satellite and terrestrial providers.
