Intelligent Fluids Secures $10.6 Million for Revolutionary Cleaning Agents

The patented technology developed by Intelligent Fluids (IFC) is water-based, non-toxic, and biodegradable, making it a safer and more sustainable alternative to conventional cleaning agents. These “intelligent fluids” also deliver superior performance to solvent-based cleaners, making them suitable for a wide range of industrial and commercial cleaning applications.

In the case of displays and LEDs, the use of intelligent fluids can help to remove adhesives and contaminants without damaging sensitive electronic components. This can improve the efficiency and lifespan of displays and LEDs while reducing the need for replacement parts and maintenance. Additionally, the use of non-toxic and biodegradable cleaning agents can help to reduce the environmental impact of the electronics manufacturing industry.

IFC just announced a €10 million ($10.6 million) Series B financing round. The round was led by WAVE Equity Partners, a US-based sustainability fund, with participation from existing institutional investors, High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and IBG Sachsen-Anhalt.

On the fundraise, Christian Römlein, CEO of IFC, said, “The funding by WAVE Equity Partners demonstrates the value of the innovation we have developed, and enables us to provide direct support to our global customer base through local production facilities. WAVE has a tremendous track record in backing sustainable technology innovation, and we are glad to have their support in this journey.”

IFC is revolutionizing industrial and commercial cleaning. Conventional cleaning agents are aggressive, hazardous to health and harmful for the environment. IFC has developed patented technology which is water-based, non-toxic and biodegradable.

These “intelligent fluids” also deliver superior performance to solvent based cleaners, with significant reductions in carbon emissions, material consumption and energy costs. The technology has wide ranging applications, from oil and gas to LED displays, and adhesive removal to microelectronics. IFC has won several accolades, with the Global Green Product Award 2021 and the European Business Hero Award for Sustainability 2022, key among them.

IFC is a German-based company, what is called a DeepTech scaleup. A DeepTech scaleup is a company that is leveraging deep technology to create innovative and disruptive solutions in their industry. Deep technology refers to the application of scientific or engineering advances that are often based on fundamental scientific discoveries or technological breakthroughs. DeepTech scaleups typically have a strong focus on research and development, with the aim of developing new and cutting-edge technologies that can be commercialized and scaled up to meet market demands.

Scaleups, in general, are companies that have shown significant growth in terms of revenue, employee numbers, and market share. They have typically moved beyond the early-stage startup phase and have established a proven business model, with a solid customer base and a clear path to profitability. DeepTech scaleups are companies that have combined deep technology with a scalable business model to create high-growth and high-impact solutions that can potentially transform entire industries.
