Intel at the Olympics with Drone Displays

What They Say

I didn’t watch the opening of the Tokyo Olympics so I missed a flying display! Intel created a display of a globe using 1824 gps-tracked drones took on the shape of the world. Each drone weighed 340 gms and had four LEDs to create the display.

The Intel Premium drones have a flight time of 11 minutes and can re-charge in 30+ minutes

What We Think

It seems I also missed tan even bigger drone display that used 3,281 for a car launch in Shanghai. Intel’s press department didn’t provide much information on this display. However, following a web thread (as you do), eventually took me to https://inteldronelightshows.com/ which offers 200 Premium drone displays from $99K and 500 drones for $299K.

An intriguing idea was the use of the drones to create a flying QR code to allow the smartphones of watchers to be connected to a url. (BR)
