Iiyama has entered the market of wide-screen gaming monitors, with the snappily-named XUB3490WQSU-B1: a 34″ display with 3440 x 1440 (21:9) resolution.
The main selling point of the display is, of course, its size. The monitor will provide gamers with a wide field of view, as well as providing users with more desktop space for office applications. Iiyama’s Black Tuner functionality is also built in; owners can use this to adjust the brightness and dark shades , raising visibility in shadowed areas.
A blue light reducer feature is accessible through the OSD. The monitor can be tilted (-4° to 20°) and swivelled (90°); it is also height adjustable to 130mm.
An IPS panel provides a 5ms response time, 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 178° viewing angles. Brightness is 320 cd/m². 10-billion colours can be displayed.
DisplayPort, HDMI, MHL-HDMI, HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0 (x2), USB 2.0 (x2) and USB-B ports are featured. Two 3W speakers are also installed.
Iiyama will is selling the monitor now, for €650 ex VAT.
Analyst Comment
IPS panels are still unusual – although becoming more common – to see on a gaming display, as gamers value low response speeds and high contrast ratios over colour accuracy and viewing angles. (TA)
