ICDM Starts Near-to-Eye Group for Display Measurement

The ICDM, which develops the International Display Measurement Standard (IDMS) has established a new subcommittee for near to eye displays for VR/AR and HUDs. Tom Lianza of Photo Research as the subcommittee chair. The group will focus on development and standardisation of measurement techniques for virtual image viewing systems. Lianza said that the group wants stakeholders from the field to help formulate the specific problems that they need to solve and wants those skilled in the art of light measurement to collaborate on the solution to the basic issues proposed by the various stakeholders. Active participation is encouraged from all participants in the group and he wants companies to bring a problem and challenge the group to solve that problem.
