Huawei Boss Announces 2018 Shipment Target at Nova 3 Launch

Speaking at the launch of its Nova 3 smartphone in Shenzhen, China, Huawei CEO Richard Yu revealed that the company has shipped 100 million handsets so far this year and aims to ship another 100 million by the end of 2018.

The Nova 3 features a 6.3″ LCD screen with a 1080 × 2340 resolution, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 409 pixels per inch, with an 84.2% screen-to-body ratio. It runs Android 8.1, powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 970 chipset, 6GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage, expandable by up to 256GB via the micro SD card slot. It also includes a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The smartphone also includes a 16MP + 24MP dual-lens rear camera that can capture 1080p video at up to 60 fps and 2160p video at 30 fps. The device also incorporates a 24MP + 2MP dual-lens internal camera.

The Nova 3 is launching alongside a cheaper “3i” variant, which features a Kirin 710 chipset, 4GB RAM and a 16MP + 2MP primary camera that can capture video at up to 1080p30. All other specs and the device’s appearance seem to be the same as the full-fat version.

The Nova 3 retails at CNY 2,999 ($441) while the 3i is priced at CNY 1,999 ($294).
