HTC has responded to recent reports that it is pulling out of the India smartphone market, saying it will continue to sell certain products in the country.
Sources have revealed that HTC has let most of its India-based staff go, including three top senior executives. However, going forward, the company says it will continue to operate in India, selling VR products online, with any further operations being run by employees in Taiwan.
The company will also continue to cooperate with its distribution partners and hire local talent in India. Some reports have suggested that HTC might eventually resume its India smartphone business via e-commerce platforms.
